Test: Alternative Current Angel Cam #2 Ein Cam der, sehr große Rissbreiten abdeckt. Wir haben uns diesen Alpinjoker genauer angesehen. Practice test I have seen the Angel Cam size 2 on some alpine routes, among others in the Fiameskante and in a new tour in the Julian Alps. As already written in the introduction, I wanted to have an "Alpinjoker" on the tours that covers wider cracks in the case of cases. And the thought has worked out very well for me! In the key length of the fiameskante and also before, there are some wider cracks that can be secured very well with the Angel Cam, What else would you have to take a 4 or 5 friend extra. The Angel Cam is much more versatile due to its range from size 2 to 5. And especially for new developments or tours with little information, where you don’t really know what to take with you, the crack width wonders are very suitable. Conclusion: The Angel Cam is the perfect addition to the standard set of clamping devices, as it can cover large crack width areas. even exceeds the gap left by the link cams. Alternative Current has created an unrivalled product that scores with additional safety and will be used as an "Alpine Joker".

"Had a play with one of these babies on a rainy day gear shop crawl in Arco last weekend, the AlternativeCurrent Angel They're clearly not intended as a substitute for normal cams - more as a single piece to cover a wide range for emergency placements on routes where you either didn't expect much crack climbing or have run out of your regular pieces. Basically the same niche as Link Cams, but less fragile - the pins holding the cam sections together were a huge weakness on the Link Cams. Impressions: big, looks feels a bit clunky. But not actually that much heavier than a normal large cam, much less five of them. Has a trigger/catch that holds the x-shaped arms in a closed position for racking, and releases them for placing. Would probably get used to this quickly enough if you owned one and used it regularly - but I wouldn't rate j random follower's chances of successfully removing and re-racking it one handed very highly."

"After viewing Ryan's from HowNOT2 video, I fell like I should share my experience with the Angel. I have this cam for a bit over a year, have been climbing with a fair bit, trad or alpine, have lend it to friends, so here is my feedback. Pros: The AC Angel from Alternative Current isn’t your typical camming device—it's a rock-solid innovation that packs a punch."

"I've never tested the same cam this many times at these forces. There is a ton of information in this so if you find it interesting I recommend the full video (link in bio or 🔝). We stock these in our store if you like novelty gear."

"I’ve met Matteo from @angel.ac.climbing last week in his workshop close to Verona. He has developed a genius new cam he calls the AC1. It’s pretty much one cam that can fit in any crack between 0.75 and a 4 in BD sizes. Each piece is CNC manufactured just about a km from his workshop and then assembled by Matteo himself. We each bought one and then tried it out on the NE pillar for the Pizzo del Prevat in Ticino. I’ve never seen a cam that sits this secure. No walking at all. I think it’s especially great for building anchors. This is not a sponsored post by the way. I just think small makers need to support each other and what Matteo does is super innovative. Also, there is something new coming from him soon!"

"This niche piece of gear aims to fill a huge gap in climber's racks by fitting in cracks from .75 to #4 in a single device! We've done a bit of climbing with it so far, but are really interested in hearing from you about what you want to see and learn about such a unique piece of kit. It definitely has a learning curve when compared to traditional cams."

"I pretty much place this every belay. It takes some practice to use to its full potential, but I’ve gotten solid placements with it where nothing else will fit. Also everyone finds it very interesting that sees it. Cool to see such an innovative idea that actually works–this cam must have taken an immense amount of design and refinement to get it to this stage."

"I really like the angel and it goes up most onsights with me now. It holds extremely solid and is great for anything but extreme limit trad climbs. Take some time on the ground to get used to placing and cleaning so you understand how it differs from a standard cam and you’ll be well rewarded when on the wall."

"Interesting device, ideal in case of need of some doubles in camming devices… Or for mountaineering to have something with you. It needs some practice before use and enough power in the hands. First impressions in some trad climbs already good"

"I do lots of exploration of new cliffs in hopes of finding climbs to establish. This piece of kit has been very useful in creating anchorage when going into the unknown as I know I can cover a lot of ground with one piece. Between this and 2 link cams I can make anchors in a crazy wide range of cracks with only 3 pieces of gear..."
